Some of the sugar and red maple specimen trees around the Heritage Ridge Villas are going into full color. Other trees are simply kissed by fall color at this point. Overall the trees are mostly green with lovely pops of color starting.

Cloud inversions mean that we have sunshine in the sky but clouds below us. One resident enjoys a moment of morning yoga above the clouds before a round of golf. Because it is fall, the occasional morning cloud inversions of summer have become an almost daily gift.
The last two nights have brought dramatic fall sunset bounces in the East over the Black Mountains, part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Residents on their back decks got to enjoy the following, with a view of Mt. Celo. Overall the trees are all still green in early fall, with kisses of color here and there. But the sky, oh my! No color manipulation in this image. Louise Lindsay © 2016 Louise Lindsay

The tournament, was sponsored by the Mountain Air Pilots Association (MAPA). Proceeds go to the charitable work of the MAPA. Congratulations all around!

Fall color is just starting around the Heritage Ridge Villas. The trees below are on Stoney Falls Loop. Also the sunsets at the Heritage Ridge Park lookout are great. iPhoneography images.
Yesterday we enjoyed a wonderful guided nature walk with Kat (Mountain Air, 's resident naturalist) who showed us many things about mushrooms, blueberries, and trees, and took a group of maybe 12 or more Mountain Air residents to a lookout where we could see from Camps at Creekside up to the Club Villas and all around. It was a free Sunday 10 AM guided nature hike. We recommend these frequent guided nature walks to all. She gave us the notes below. And the 4" video gives you a glimpse of Kat's teachings. Last night, we enjoyed the wonderful "final" "Champagne and Ivories" concert by Brian Gurl, at his log-cabin home here in Burnsvile, NC. He is moving to FL, but is willing to return next season for private in-home concerts (20 people or so). So anyone who wants to set this up should contact him. He simply needs someone with a piano, and a home to host a "Champagne and Ivories" concert. Also, look for him to return possibly to the Burnsville Town Center next season. Jan and Steve |
