Several Heritage Ridge Villas families participated in creating gingerbread houses and holiday decorations. It's not clear who had more fun - the children, their parents, or their grandparents! There are always plenty of activities year round at Mountain Air.

Several of our villa residents were at Heritage Ridge and Mountain Air for Thanksgiving. The feast at Mountain Air Country Club was reportedly fabulous. After the big meal, everyone needed some exercise. Our resident naturalist, Kat, guided a lovely morning moon walk. Several of our residents attended. Sallie sent in a picture of her granddaughter enjoying Halloween and fall crafts at Chautauqua. There are so many activities for children and grandchildren at Mountain Air!
Fall color is beautiful right now. Of course, in the mountains of western North Carolina, there is no real peak. It is so bio-diverse here that fall color goes on and on for weeks, painted every day with different colors. But this moment is beautiful and will be for the next few weeks. Right now, there is still much green in the landscape, but also the fall colors that create a beautiful patchwork quilt are popping out everywhere. Cloud inversions are kissing the mountain most mornings. Fall wildflowers are blooming- purple asters and bottle gentian are especially plentiful. More detailed fall color reports can be found here and here. A taste of the mountain around the Heritage Ridge Villas follows. Louise Images © 2016 Louise Lindsay
Be sure to check out Mountain Air Country Club's Fall festivities, Sat., Oct. 8, 4-7 P.M. on the #1 fairway, as well as an all day trip to Hickory Nut Gap Farm. These activities are for club members only, and real estate guests. Hickory Nut Gap Farm in Fairview, NC can also be visited by anyone. Meanwhile, right here in Burnsville, Fri. night brings The Great Gatsby, at the Parkway Playhouse. And Sat. brings Newtown with Yancey native Mitchell Cannon playing bluegrass (fiddle) at the Burnsville Town Center.
Sallie just got a pedicure from Anna. Dazzle dry is great stuff - vegan, dries in 5 minutes without lights, natural nail enhancer, non yellowing, etc.
The wonders of Spa Tohi at Mountain Air! Word has it that residents of a C building Heritage Ridge Villa and their friends were the 1st and 2nd place winning teams in the Airway-Fairway Golf tournament last weekend. The tournament, was sponsored by the Mountain Air Pilots Association (MAPA). Proceeds go to the charitable work of the MAPA. Congratulations all around!
Yesterday we enjoyed a wonderful guided nature walk with Kat (Mountain Air, 's resident naturalist) who showed us many things about mushrooms, blueberries, and trees, and took a group of maybe 12 or more Mountain Air residents to a lookout where we could see from Camps at Creekside up to the Club Villas and all around. It was a free Sunday 10 AM guided nature hike. We recommend these frequent guided nature walks to all. She gave us the notes below. And the 4" video gives you a glimpse of Kat's teachings. |
